"This new building will be simply and sincerely an interpretation of modern business conditions designed to be as inspiring to live in and work in as any cathedral ever was to worship in."Frank Lloyd Wright on the S.C. Johnson Administration Building
Join us for an enjoyable, comprehensive overview of Wright’s ever-evolving responses to the landscape and the needs of clients. This day trip includes a private tour of S. C. Johnson Administration Building, with its famous Great Workroom, as well as Wingspread, the spectacular residence Wright designed for the Johnson family. We will also take in the inaugural exhibition at the new S. C. Johnson Gallery, At Home with Frank Lloyd Wright. The exhibition focuses on Wright's Prairie style and features objects, furniture, large-scale photographs and reproductions, and renderings from several of Wright’s most famous Prairie-Style houses to reveal how Wright developed a new American architecture. Also included is a visit to the privately-owned Thomas P. Hardy Residence guided by writer and photographer Mark Hertzberg, author of Wright in Racine.
